As we witness 5G networks slowly rolling in, we see more and more high profile manufacturers making their stand in the upcoming market. Among those, Qualcomm has also joined the race with its 5G chipset.

Snapdragon X60 modem is the device which will be the first to feature this chipset, and it can easily connect to whichever 5G network in the world where you can find Qualcomm’s processors in smartphones. It also features a higher frequency band in comparison to regular 5G.

Qualcomm’s new 5G modem is capable of achieving average coverage and speed of 5G networks that were covered by X55, the last generation of 5G modems. Since this new model makes use of the 5nm manufacturing process, it is much smaller by design and it also has a much better efficiency when it comes to power consumption and heat output.

In comparison to the X55, the X60 will be faster only by a margin, but since it is designed by the new 5nm manufacturing process and is better in all relatable aspects, it definitely represents a decent step in the right direction for Qualcomm.
